Enveloped increasingly within a dominant society that increasingly measures all things against GDP and profit, it bears remembering that:We are a global society living life on the bottom line, choosing to exist not on savings but on credit against the future. Short-term, a few hundred or thousand deaths seem to matter. Long-term: even this will be mostly forgotten as it drifts off the front pages and then off the networks altogether against the next major thing, but the long-term localised profits -- at the expense of devastated regional economies -- will remain.
